These are 4 of the most used of the larger Japanese 11" size tools. The first tool is a trunk splitter. It is used to split trunks on trees of about 2" in caliper to make a sort of lightening strike twin trunk tree. Tool size is 10 1/2" long. The second tool is a pair of root cutters. These are usefull on trees that are in the 2" to 4" caliper range, as the roots are generally larger on the raw material and require something bigger than an 8" root cutter. Tool size is 10 5/8". The next tool is a knob cutter. This tool is indispensable for cutting down bigger branches and knobing them or scooping them out of the trunk for neat bark overgrowing the wound. Tool size is 11 1/2". The next tool is a concave branch cutter for cutting off branches in the 1/2" to 3/4" range, depending on wood hardness. Tool size is 10 7/8".
